For the past year or so I have used Macromedia's Fireworks for all my web graphics design. I have heard that Photoshop is a much better program for this, but I was wondering why? Is there anything specific that you can do in Photoshop and not in Fireworks?
Fireworks is more of an easy to use program (relatively speaking), where as Photoshop is for dedicated professionals. I have used both and like Photoshop a little bit more, but I haven't had the money to buy it. I am going to try GIMP and maybe PSP to see if they have a few more options.
I have Fireworks 4, and worked with Photoshop 7, so not sure how that would compare to the current versions.
Forgot to mention, I went from Fireworks 4 to Photoshop 7 (at work) to Fireworks 4 (changed universities and jobs). I was happy with FW until I got used to photoshop and now I am always wondering where ___ tool went. Not being able to wrap text around a circle has got to be the most annoying thing for me. I want my smudge tool back too!
For me Photoshop is better software than Macromedia's Fireworks. I have both software with lastest version but i like to use Photoshop. Both software was registered so i can use full advantge.
Most of time i use Photoshop so i like it. But Macromedia's Fireworks is also good software.
I like firework, I have a reason but it needs some descriptive reply. In short:
I have found some of task need to be done many times, such as:
opening file, doing some changes or editing...
save file and continue from the first part.
and Firework provide the option of saving all the history as script and make it available in the batch process and if you want to be proffesional in doing such task then you can edit the script in your notepad or dreamweaver ( as script is in javascript ).
I have done that for my own puposes: like looping, conditions, etc. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />
Photoshop from CS2 has a slew of effects, brush libraries, and filters that I feel are much more refined! Fireworks 8 is very intuative/user friendly, but the effects and output, in my opinion, are not quite as detailed as Photoshop. I use both but for a different purpose. Photoshop is great for print and design effects, but I prefer to use fireworks for the web development as it has a faster workflow.
