Did anyone experience a significant drop in rankings on Google around the 3rd Oct? I monitor daily my sites rankings, traffic and sales via natural search, and experienced an unexplainable drop in rankings e.g.: from position 10 to 30. No site updates etc were made. The recovery of ranking is happening naturally but slowly since the 3rd we have only risen to position 20. Is anyone aware of any updates (other than the PR/Backlink update on the 29th Sept) Thanks....
This started happening the last 2 weeks of September. Traffic fell back and links have disappeared in telecom and construction type industries. Almost like google did a house cleaning.
Have seen some sites that have had there reported number of pages cut in half or even more, over the past few days.. so a friend has reported to me. He runs a directory using a popular directory script and has many pages that are automatically created on-the-fly with unique content on each. We have done our research over quite a few sites and it appears to be effecting some large dynamically driven sites. He has come to the conclusion that too many pages are too similar to each other.. but I'm still holding out on this thought until I see more evidence..
