Are you new to hosting your own website? Or do you want to get your business started right away but dont have a lot of capital to put out up front. Why not try GoDaddy

With GoDaddy.com you can easily register and have any domain name for as low as $1.95**
"Products must be new to the customer (not currently owned) to qualify. One 1 yr $1.99* .com, .us, .biz,
.info, . name, .net, or .org domain per each qualifying product; new, transfer or renewal. Recurring
billing charges, existing product, domain renewals, domain backorders and domain registration products
(such as Privacy, Business Registration, Certified Domain, Domain Ownership Protection and CashParking)
and some "add-on" companion products (such as additional hosting bandwidth and storage) do not qualify
as product purchases. Only qualifying domain names included in qualifying purchases are subject to
discount" ~taken from GoDaddy.com Terms and Conditions

Privacy on domains and reduced price domain name bundles are not eligible for additional discount
    promotions.

    * Plus ICANN fee of 25 cents per domain name year. Certain TLD's only.

You can also bid on domain names for sale, or if you are an an entrupurner why not go on godaddy.com register a domain name they start at $8.95/yr if they are not new domain names and then try selling them on ebay or right through godaddy.com

Yes it is $1.95 but don't you think you are paying twice more for the other services you are purchasing ?

The lowest price I have seen for domain registration without any obligation, was ipower ($2.99) but now they discontinued that price and currently netfirms with the price of $4.95 is one of the lowest prices.

But honestly I prefer to pay a little more just to keep all my domains together instead of having 1 domain here , the other on registrar x with different username/password , .... /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

In term of transfer, registerfly sometimes has a very good special offer.
