I am starting a new music, travel and server sales based website in near future. I like to know how my page rank is based on. I heared the the incoming and outgoing links does that. Which of these must be important issue to increase the rank.

The other question is where do I find the directories and where should be my page submitted for ranking. Does yahoo or google has different ranks for same page..

    Thanks for your time..

    Hi,
The number of backlinks is an important factor in your page ranking but it is not the only one.
There are so many things effective on your rank such as Meta tags, h1 tags on your keyword, page titles, sitemap, ....

Regarding backlinks, the links should be in a related site on related text to be counted and effective.

Yes yahoo and google have different rankings about pages because their database and the way of rank is not the same.

    yes.. jiosis is right..

there are still other factors which you have to consider before proceeding towards your linking campaign (this is the term the seo industry is using)..

it is equally important that you optimize your webpages before doing linkbuilding campaigns and directory submissions..

as of the moment, the seo industry believes that the number of incoming links is the most important factor that affects your PageRank.. Outgoing Links are avoided and should only be placed when it is necessary or when it is required of you by an affiliate/partner..

Directories are plenty and can be found on search engines.. one good example is Dmoz.. and yes.. google and yahoo rank webpages differently with google somehow having the most prominent and the most complicated ranking system (algorithm) there is..

and btw, judging on the topics you have provided, it seems that the site you are building encompasses a lot of niches or topics.. though this is not a bad thing, having a website with multiple themes/topics that are not related will pose some problems for your search engine optimization efforts later on.. it is adviced that you focus on one topic per website in order to maximize its potential and your resources..

However, it is still best that you coonsult a professional seo specialtist if you want to pursue your seo campaign seriously..

    Hope I helped..
