What type of software (preferably internet-based) would you like to see an open source version (or a different type of open source version) of? Webhosting checkout / billing panel Image hosting script? Website design software? Ad serving (phpadsnew type script with built in checkout)? Search engine? Media site (video uploads / funny pictures / arcade / etc)? Social networking / bookmarking (like phpfox)?
All depends on people needs. I think, there are many people, which need software from all categories, you listed. if It's open source. Another way commercial clients - they will order custom programming and want to use custom developed solutions. Experience is show it
I’m more concerted with advancing open source software and providing people with a solution than making a profit, but that is an idea. I may be receiving a smallish amount of money here and every once and awhile I like to give back. My thought this time was to hire a programmer and get some open source software jumpstarted.
