I have been using GIMP for two or three months and i am happy with it. GIMP is better software for making animation. I recommended it for web-designer and other designers. It is free and easy to use so anyone can make good animation by using GIMP. It helps in the every day editing needs.

It's near 3 months tha I have GIMP installed on my system but couldn't really draw even a line with it , (honestly I didn't try enough) but now that I saw your post I gave it a try and seems interesting. Just wondering how this software can be free ?
I also recommended Gimp softawre. Its best animation software in market and also its free one. Whole Gimp software pack has nice tools and fetures which we could not found in any other software. I am not a pro so I use it it quite a bit.

Of course you can't and Should not compare it to Adobe Photoshop or such commercial softwares ! It can be an alternative only if you don't want to pay for software !
I think GIMP is best freeware software in this industry but it is not better than other commercial softwares like Adobe Photoshop and others.
With GIMP you can learn many things which you couldn't use on other softwares. If you want use graphics software withour paying any money than you should use this one.
